# Gus > Gus (Gustave in full) is an AI family assistant: a concierge for busy families, made in Denmark. He keeps track of school letters, party invitations, appointments, chores and the shopping, looks ahead, and asks the right parent in good time, so the planning stops resting on one person. In English and Danish. Families are let in a few at a time; there is no price yet. Gus is new and small: it was built by Matt for his own family first and is now letting other families in a few at a time. It is a good fit for families in Denmark (it reads Aula and fills Nemlig baskets) and for any household that wants one shared place for its plans, lists and reminders, with an assistant that does the remembering. ## What Gus does - **Carries the mental load.** Gus looks ahead and asks the right one of you, in one line, in good time: who picks up when the after-school club (SFO) is closed, a reply to a birthday invitation, a passport that runs out in March. Pick-ups and chores are kept fair between parents. - **Easy to hand things to.** Send a voice message (English or Danish), a photo of a letter, or a quick text. Voice is turned into text on Gus's own server. - **One family calendar, lists and reminders.** Everyone's plans in their own colour; shopping, packing and to-do lists; birthdays and ages; home upkeep and a chores rota. - **Aula, for Danish schools.** Each parent connects their own Aula with MitID. At 15:30 they get a short private summary of what the school said, in their own language (useful for expat parents). - **Groceries.** Gus fills a Nemlig basket only after a parent says yes; choosing delivery and paying happen in Nemlig. - **Meals and recipes.** Meal plans, recipes that scale, and allergies and dislikes remembered per person. - **A kitchen screen.** An old iPad becomes the family's day on the wall. Children use it to tick off jobs and collect stickers from their parents; they don't need a phone. - **Your own AI assistant can join in.** Parents can connect Claude, ChatGPT or any MCP client to the family's lists, calendar and reminders (MCP over HTTPS); it acts as that parent and sees only what they may see. - **Gus never replaces family contact.** He sends you to each other, never between you, and goes quiet at dinner. The less time a family spends in the app, the better he is doing. ## Privacy - Hosted on servers in Germany, with encrypted backups in Finland. - Private entries stay private, even from the rest of the family; this is tested before every update. - No ads; data is never sold; families never mix. - Honest caveat: Gus's replies are currently written by a language model running in the US. It is being moved to EU servers. ## Getting it - Runs in the browser and installs on the Home Screen like an app. An iPhone app is in testing. - Ask to join at https://gus.family/welcome (about two minutes). Families get an email when it's their turn. - Price: not set yet; families will be told well before anything changes.
